Post Op wk 28!

I am 28 wks post op as of today. It is hard to believe all that has happened to me in these past 28 weeks. I have changed for the better of myself and for my future family. (no I am not prego) but I would like to be some day...

So this weekend was Memorial Day weekend and we had our Second Annual Memorial Day party! And it was a blast I thought for sure I was going to eat to much and not lose any weight this wk. But I was good and managed to lose! Yay me! I have been getting quite a few compliments lately and I am enjoying them dont get me wrong hehe. It is just so weird to hear them because after being the nice sweet fat girl for so long you still see yourself as that nice sweet fat girl.  I am still that sweet girl inside, I dont want people who dont know me to start to think differently of me because I have lost weight. I have the biggest heart and tons of love to give.

Well at the party I had many people that havent seen me in quiet a while do a double take because they didnt know it was me or didnt recognize me, My family friend Mattie pulled in to the parking lot and didnt recognize me standing in the car port. Until I walked to her car and gave her a hug then she realized I was the same girl who she saw standing over in the car port lol.

My best friend from college Johanna says to me "Excuse me miss, have you seen my friend, Shauna?" LOL she hadnt seen me since Feb.

Best part of the day... when Stephanie came to see me, Stephanie and I met online before all of this started and she was one of my go to people for info and education when I needed to have questions answered! She was also a patient of my Dr as well so we have something other than normal life to bond over. She had surgery in June and she is almost a yr out now. and has lost a whopper of over 130lbs. I am so very proud of her and all that she has accomplished and So grateful for having found a friend like her to lean on when I need. She is a skinny minnie holy moly I cant wait to look like her hehe

So here is a pic of us at the party.

Also at the party we were able to show each other our FAT GiRL pants lol, after I showed her I took them outside and showed off, I put both legs into on pant leg for people to really see what and how far I have come. Its crazy and you forget that that is truly how big u were until you put those pants on again. Its such an eye opener. A friend of mine asked me if I was going to burn them.. and I SAID  WHAT! No, these are mine to remember that I willl never be able to fit into these again and to know where I came from. They are like a security blanket now!

Then Tuesday my niece graduated from high school and while there someone who I have know for a long long time came up to me and said have you lost a lot of weight, and I was just being a smart ass and said ah no lol and I laughed and told her I was just kidding that I had lost about 115 lbs, and she said wow you look great and asked me how I did it and told her WLS. She asked if it was hard, and I said its not anymore, but it was in the beginning. Its my life now its what I have become its what I love!

Post Op wk 27

I finally had my 6 month check up with Dr. Ben Meir and it will be the last time I get to see him, unless I find out where hes going and follow... hmm now there is an idea. I also go to talk with his PA Brooke who I've had most of my follow up appointments with and she is also leaving which is very upsetting. Well I am doing wonderful they both said! Which is awesome to hear I was afraid I wasn't or I wouldn't be at where I am supposed to be with weight loss yet and according to both of them I am right on track.

So with the VSG you are  supposed to be able to lose 70-80% of your excess body weight. At 3 months I was over my target and at 38% loss, they want you at 30%. and at 6 Months I am at 55% loss. All of my blood work was great! Im to keep doing what I am doing and change nothing but to take two B-12 because they are only 500 mg and I need 1000 didnt know that lol. So I will just double up my B-12.  My A1C levels were perfect I was 5.6 pre diabetic before all the weight loss and now I am at 4.5. And my Iron which I was kind of worried about was perfect too. I couldnt be happier.

The one thing that kinda bothered me when I asked Dr B when he thought I would be at 130lbs. Which is the goal I have set for myself. and he said for me to be able to lose 70-80% excess body weight I would have to weight 150-155 and he would be happy with me at that weight.  I said.... Hello, I'm 5'1 I want to be 130. To be at 130 I'd have to lose 95% excess body weight he said it so totally do able but will take a lot of hard work on my end. I have the faith that I will get to my goal of 130 I did not do this to quit anywhere but where I wanna be! I am going to have to take my work outs and start doing them for me and not worrying about when someone can go with me or trying to get someone to come with me. I have been doing it for to long and its time to worry about me and to stop worrying about someone else's weight loss.  I have my own goals I am working on and cant work on someone else's if they dont want to do it themselves.

Post Op wk 26 (6 Month Surgiversary)

Yesterday the 14 of May was technically my 6 month Surgiversary! I am so Happy and Proud of the woman I have become over the last year. I truly feel as though I have come out of my cocoon and become this beautiful butterfly who isn't afraid to fly anymore.  I knew that this Shauna was inside me all along, but the fear of being here with all the weight on me was just not  do able.  So for the last 6 months I have been coloring in my beautiful wings so that I can soar high in the sky. And feel like I am on top of the world.

Being able to feel this new found confidence radiate from me is such an empowering feeling that I never new existed. I can walk into a room, a store or a restaurant and not feel as though everyone is staring at me and wondering why I was trying to shop there or wondering what I was going to order off the menu! Now when I order food and can only eat what I am comfortably able to eat and still have a 3/4 plate full worth of food I get asked (99% of the time if the waiter or waitress is a good one) if everything was alright and tasted okay because they noticed my plate wasn't empty or licked clean.

The little things are being looked over now because I have gotten, so used to doing them like being able to cross my legs, sit Indian style on the couch with the lap top on my lap. Tie my shoes with out bending over. Trying on clothes with out working up a sweat.

One of the things I don't know if I will ever get used to is not looking for the Plus size section in the stores. I get so amazed that I can walk into the clothing store and grab a 16 off the rack and put it on, "I think to myself this isn't going to zip" and whatya know not only does it zip its loose! I don't know if this feeling will ever go away or if years from now I will still feel it. Its that mind over matter that plays tricks on you. It truly does take our minds a long time to catch up with the changes our body is going through.

Post Op Wk 25

It's been one exciting day to say the least. I woke up and got on the scale and I was at my first major goal of 199! that's 110lbs lost from my heaviest of 309. It took me what seemed like for ever to finally get here and I am now here ONEDERLAND at last!

I hope the 69 lbs I have left to lose are nice to me and come off with out a hitch. But we all know how that goes lol

This Journey has been one of the best so far in my entire life. I have done all that I said I was going to do as far as graduating high school, graduating college and get a great job. The weight was one thing I never thought I was going to get a hold of and change because every time I tried I had no hope. WLS and my tool the VSG has given me hope that I thought was lost forever.

Now that I am at 199 I can go out and buy me those new gym shoes I have been wanting! I cant wait I am super excited!

I cant post my weight progress this wk cus I am posting this from a different computer that doesn't have my spreadsheet saved on it.

So for Post Op Wk 25 my weight is 199.8 and that is a lost of 1.8 from last wk at 201.6

This was a short but sweet post, Enjoy!

Post op Wk 23-24

Howdie Readers.... I know I didn't post last wk, but I am posting now... Last wk was a bad scale wk it said I was up 1 lb to 206 from 205 the following wk. So I decided to not step on the scale at all this wk until today which is weigh in day. So I didn't step on it from Wed-Wed!

I ate  pretty good and  everything what I'm supposed to and made sure protein was my number one goal next to water.

When I woke up this morning I was afraid to step on the scale I didn't know what it was going to say since the last couple of wks, well since about middle of Mar. have been trying. I was staying the same weight or down 3 lbs and back to same weight, so I was worried... I know there is nothing to be worried about if I am doing what I am supposed to be doing the weight will eventually come off. And its true the scale will start moving again have a little faith.

And.... the scale said drum roll please . . . . . . . .

I am so close to ONEDERLAND! And new gym shoes HAHA!
