Post Op wk 26 (6 Month Surgiversary)

Yesterday the 14 of May was technically my 6 month Surgiversary! I am so Happy and Proud of the woman I have become over the last year. I truly feel as though I have come out of my cocoon and become this beautiful butterfly who isn't afraid to fly anymore.  I knew that this Shauna was inside me all along, but the fear of being here with all the weight on me was just not  do able.  So for the last 6 months I have been coloring in my beautiful wings so that I can soar high in the sky. And feel like I am on top of the world.

Being able to feel this new found confidence radiate from me is such an empowering feeling that I never new existed. I can walk into a room, a store or a restaurant and not feel as though everyone is staring at me and wondering why I was trying to shop there or wondering what I was going to order off the menu! Now when I order food and can only eat what I am comfortably able to eat and still have a 3/4 plate full worth of food I get asked (99% of the time if the waiter or waitress is a good one) if everything was alright and tasted okay because they noticed my plate wasn't empty or licked clean.

The little things are being looked over now because I have gotten, so used to doing them like being able to cross my legs, sit Indian style on the couch with the lap top on my lap. Tie my shoes with out bending over. Trying on clothes with out working up a sweat.

One of the things I don't know if I will ever get used to is not looking for the Plus size section in the stores. I get so amazed that I can walk into the clothing store and grab a 16 off the rack and put it on, "I think to myself this isn't going to zip" and whatya know not only does it zip its loose! I don't know if this feeling will ever go away or if years from now I will still feel it. Its that mind over matter that plays tricks on you. It truly does take our minds a long time to catch up with the changes our body is going through.
